Overview

Spaces are the main foundation to organizing on Highnote. You can use Spaces as folders and subfolders, as a place to hold ideas and demos, or as a showcase of your most polished work. Whether you’re actively working on tracks or simply throwing ideas into a playlist, you can utilize a Space for that.

Creating Spaces

You can add your first Space by going to the left-side panel and clicking or tapping + New Space. Alternatively, you can click or tap + Create on the top right-hand side in your Library and choose New Space.

A new Space will appear in the left-side panel and right-side window.

Tip: You can close the left-side panel by clicking the arrow tab on the top right hand side of the panel.

From here, you can upload your first Track. You can upload your Track in 2 ways:

  1. Drag and drop your Track directly onto your Space.

  2. Click or tap Upload and use the file picker to choose a file to upload.

Later, when you’ve uploaded more tracks to your Library, you can add Tracks from your Library directly.

Note: Highnote supports WAVs, MP3s, MP4, AIF, AIFF, and M4A audio files.

Managing Spaces

As a Space Owner, you can add and manage Spaces with no restrictions. Within a Space, you can take a few actions.

  • Add Tracks: Get started by uploading and adding your work.

  • Add Attachments: Files and links related to your project can also be added to a Space.

  • Record an audio file: For quick ideas, directly added to your Space.

  • Add Tracks or Attachments from your Library: For Tracks or Attachments added from your Library.

  • Chatting in your Space: Keep in touch with your Space Members with an ongoing chat in-Space.

  • Sharing your Space: Manage link access and permissions for Space Members.

Download all the contents of your Space by clicking or tapping the download button. You can download all files, including audio tracks and attachments.

Note: If you’re a member of another person’s Space, you may or may not have Downloads enabled.

Across the platform, you can manage Space settings by clicking or tapping the three dots to the right of a Space name. This can be found in a Space with sub-Spaces.

In the panel on the left, as well as in your Library.

Customizing Spaces

For a touch of personalization and to start bringing your project to life, you can add a Space Title. Click or tap New Space and add your title.

You can also add a Description by clicking or tapping the field below your title, the Description box, and add your text:

Descriptions are a great place to add more information about your project, or contact details you want to highlight.

Lastly, you can add Artwork to bring more of yourself to the page. Click or tap the pencil icon and choose a file to upload.

You can also edit these details in the Space Details window.

Nesting Spaces

Much like folders on your desktop or in your devices, Spaces can be added into one another to create a structure for your projects. For example, if you’re working on multiple projects with one artist, you can create one primary Space and nest sub-Spaces into them.

Creating sub-Spaces is simple, while in a Space, click or tap + Create and choose Space. This will add a new Space into your current Space.

Moving Spaces

As projects evolve or new groups of collaborators are involved, Spaces can move with you or with them. To move a Space, click or tap Add from Library and click through your Library to find the Space you’d like to move this sub-Space to.

Note: Once a Space is added as a sub-Space, this Space can only be moved to other sub-Spaces.

Note: Comments will not move between Spaces.

Archiving and Deleting Spaces

Whether your clearing your projects out, moving Spaces around, or simply making room for more, you can Archive or Delete Spaces.

Archiving a Space gives you the ability to bring a Space back if needed. You can archive a Space by clicking or tapping the three dots to the right of a Space, choose Archive.

Once a Space is archived, you can bring a Space back by clicking or tapping the banner above an archived Space.

Deleting a Space is permanent. Only delete a Space if you’re absolutely sure you’d like to delete a Space. Delete a Space by clicking or tapping the three dots to the right of a Space title and choose Delete.

Space Details

In addition to editing your Space Artwork, Title, and Description in your Space Details window, you can mute notifications from a given Space in the Notifications tab.

Go to Notifications and toggle the Mute Space option.

Available on the Studio plan and above, you can enable an Audio Quality Lock in the Settings tab of this window.
